Welcome to the website of Pete Hardy Images.

I am a freelance photographer based in the English Midlands, specialising in wildlife, landscape and outdoor photography.

My image library contains thousands of images of the wildlife, landscapes and scenery of the British Isles and Europe. Please browse my image galleries to see examples of my work.

My images are available for reproduction on a commercial basis, details of which can be found on the stock lists page of this site.

I have been photographing the great outdoors for the past quarter of a Century!

I was born and raised in rural Leicestershire, and spent much of my formative years wandering the meadows and woodlands, enjoying the fresh air and the sense of freedom it gave. The tranquility I found inspired me to capture it on film. Self taught, I learnt my craft using a fully manual Olympus SLR. This gave me a solid foundation in the essential techniques that go into making a great photograph; something which has provided a firm foundation in the digital age. I learned early to make the most of local opportunities. Groby pool offered good bird photography, whilst the deer in Bradgate Park helped me develop my early field craft. These venues are as good today as ever, and I always fit in a visit when I am in the area.

Nowadays I cover a bit more ground. I have explored the length and breadth of the British Isles, in search of its wildlife and wild places. My passion for hill walking and mountaineering has taken me to some of the Country's most spectacular locations, as well as further afield, to the French and Swiss Alps. A camera has always been to hand.

Over the last few years my eagerness to learn more about our natural heritage has seen me become increasingly involved in conservation work. I find this very rewarding, and a great way to 'give a little back'. I would strongly urge other wildlife photographers to make a similar contribution, to help ensure the prosperity of our wildlife and wild places for generations to come.

My hope is that I can bring to others the magic of the wildlife and wild places I have been privileged to encounter. I hope this comes across in my work.
